I'm a Star Wars fan. One of my earliest memories is being kept out of school for a trip to the cinema to see the opening of this movie I knew nothing about. At nine years old the movie didn't matter to me because I wasn't going to school. My mother had no idea what was happening at the time but she basically changed my perspective on movies with this outing.
No one can forget the opening music to Star Wars and this past Saturday I was thrilled by the magical composition of John Williams at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestras tribute to his great works as a movie composer.
The magic of my experience as a nine year old playing hooky to see Star Wars came rushing back and I was reminded of the role music plays in completing the movie experience. I could see it all just from hearing the familiar notes and my appreciation for composers like John Williams was expanded.
After leaving the performance I wanted to go re-watch some of my favorite movies that Mr. Williams scored just so I could see with my ears. Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Neverland and of course Star Wars just to name a few.
